Philosophy of Learning
Learning experiences are important, specially the way that we know we can learn. In my opinion, every person has a way to learn easily. It can be visual, audial or kinesthetic. In my case, my way it would be visual and speaking way. I can learn how to do and understand things if I discussed or debated about it. In fact, I could learn so easily if I study by this way
I am an English student in CSU-Pueblo, I moved to United States on August 5th, 2008, and I began an English Second Language in this university. Learning English is more than a job right now, it is a goal. Well, I think I am doing well, because I really want to learn, and it is the first thing in my world now. I know I could do better, especially in my speaking, I really want to practice more, but sometimes is difficult because I live in a Spanish speakers house.
That’s why I tried to read books and watch TV almost all the time in home, because I know I will not speak in English in home. I really want to pass my TOEFL; I don’t want that my Mother think that I’m wasting her money. And also I really want to begin my bachelor’s degree. Sometimes people said that I have a lot time, because I am only 17 years old, but I want to graduate fast, and start master’s and work, it is something in my being.
My responsibilities are really clear, pushing myself to do everything to learn is the first one, also come every day to class and do my best. I think the only responsibility of a teacher is being a guide, but the others things we have to do it. They can’t do everything for us; therefore we will not learn anything. We have to be respectful to teacher around the world, because they are our principal guide in the learning life, like our parents that in the beginning of our life are our life guide. My classmate’s responsibilities are, like mines, doing their best and being respectful, also come to class on time, because if they do not come on time it is not fair for who is coming on time, because they are doing that the others lose time, and time it is something that you cannot return.
I really feel that ELI class is good and helpful, but sometimes people do not take it like a serious thing, and that is frustrating sometimes. All my hopes are in the class, because I think it is helping me to improve my English every single day and that’s my goal right now. I know that depends on me to make it true, but I need help, and that’s what ELI class is doing.
Just giving us the tools and the guide to learn, it is enough help, but in us depends if we want to use this tools and guide, you will not learn if you are not doing anything to make your goal or hopes come true.
